Sandberg wins challenge on close play at second

PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg won a challenge in the top of the fifth inning Wednesday night on a play at second base in which Rockies left fielder Corey Dickerson was originally ruled safe.

With Colorado leading, 2-1, and runners on first and second, Rockies third baseman Charlie Culberson grounded a ball to Chase Utley, who sprinted to second base for the forceout. Second-base umpire Jim Wolf ruled that Dickerson reached the base before Utley tagged it with his foot.

Sandberg immediately got the word to challenge the call, and after a brief review, the ruling was overturned, as replay clearly showed Utley got to the bag before Dickerson.
