Clearwater first baseman Darick Hall, Lehigh Valley right-hander Enyel De Los Santos, Lakewood right-hander Spencer Howard and Lakewood second baseman Daniel Brito have been selected as the Phillies Minor League Hitter, Co-Pitchers and Defender of the Month, respectively, for April.
Hall, 22, batted .265 (22-83) with three doubles, eight home runs, 18 RBI, eight walks, 18 runs scored and a .948 OPS in 23 April games. He homered in three consecutive contests from April 12-14, including his first multi-home run game of the season on April 13. He also recorded six multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games. An Arizona native, Hall is currently tied for third in all of Minor League Baseball in home runs (9), and is tied for the most among all single-A players. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Hall was selected by the Phillies in the 14^th round of the June 2016 draft.
The 22-year-old De Los Santos went 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA (3 ER, 19.1 IP) in his first four starts both at the triple-A level and in the Phillies organization. He struck out 25 batters, walked only six and did not surrender a home run in April. The Dominican Republic native allowed one earned run in each of his first three starts, striking out at least seven in all of them, and finished the month with 5.2 scoreless innings against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. De Los Santos was acquired by Philadelphia from the San Diego Padres on Dec. 15, 2017 in exchange for shortstop Freddy Galvis.
Howard, the Phillies' second-round pick in the June 2017 draft, posted a 1.89 ERA (4 ER, 19.0 IP), struck out 29 batters, walked only two and held opponents to a .214 average in four April starts. The 21-year-old California native allowed five or fewer hits and struck out at least six batters in all four starts, ending his month by allowing just three baserunners in 6.0 shutout innings on April 26 to earn South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week honors. Among starting pitchers, Howard ranks fourth in the league in strikeouts per 9.0 innings pitched at 13.09.
Brito, 20, played in 19 games at second base for Lakewood in April and made just one error, his only of the season in 94 total chances. Brito's .989 fielding percentage is the best among all South Atlantic League second basemen, and he is one of only three second basemen in the league to have turned 15 double plays already this season. Originally from Ciudad Guayana, Venezuela, Brito was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on July 17, 2014.
