PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies announced Friday that Jim Gott will be their bullpen coach next season.
Gott, 58, spent the past five seasons as the Angels' Minor League pitching coordinator. He was the Angels' pitching coach from 2010-12. Gott pitched 14 seasons in the big leagues, posting a 3.87 ERA in 554 appearances with the Blue Jays, Giants, Pirates and Dodgers.
The Phils announced last week that they have hired hitting coach John Mallee and third-base coach Dusty Wathan. Rick Kranitz has been retained. He could be the pitching coach, but the Phillies are still interviewing candidates. If they hire someone to be the pitching coach, Kranitz will be the assistant pitching coach.
