Franco activated, hopes to play in final series

PHILADELPHIA -- If the weather cooperates, Phillies third baseman Maikel Franco hopes to play this weekend at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies announced before Thursday's 3-0 win over the Mets that Franco had been activated from the 15-day disabled list. He had been on the DL since Aug. 12 because of a broken left wrist.

"I'm excited," Franco said. "I don't know if I'll play, but I'm ready. I feel nothing [in the wrist] right now. I'm happy to be back."

Franco has been in Clearwater, Fla., rehabbing from the injury. He played in a handful of games over the past week at Carpenter Complex. The Phillies believe there is no risk to Franco's wrist if he plays this weekend.
