Phillies Acquire Cabrera

The Phillies have acquired infielder Asdrubal Cabrera from the New York Mets in exchange for right-hander Franklyn Kilome.
A switch-hitter and two-time All-Star (2011-12), Cabrera, 32, has appeared in 98 games for the Mets this season, slashing .277/.329/.488 in 407 plate appearances with 42 extra-base hits (23 2B, 1 3B, 18 HR). Cabrera ranks second among all major league second basemen this season in home runs and extra-base hits, trailing only Atlanta's Ozzie Albies in both categories.
A veteran of 12 major league seasons, Cabrera has appeared in 1,047 games at shortstop, 332 games at second base and 45 games at third base. In 24 career games at Citizens Bank Park, Cabrera is slashing .387/.418/.634 in 98 plate appearances.
Kilome, 23, was originally signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent in 2013. He has made 19 starts for double-A Reading this season is 4-6 with a 4.24 ERA.  
This marks the first trade between the Mets and Phillies since July 27, 2001 when Philadelphia sent left-handers Bruce Chen and Adam Walker to New York in exchange for left-hander Dennis Cook and right-hander Turk Wendell.
