Phillies' Carlos Ruiz to be Honored On Field; Youngsters to Get Major League "Jobs" at Turkey Hill Kids Opening Day on Sunday

On Sunday, April 13, it's the Phillies' Turkey Hill Kids Opening Day at Citizens Bank Park - and in honor of the day, lucky youngsters will be randomly selected to take part in major league activities prior to the game, which include:

  • Present Catcher Carlos Ruiz with the 2013 Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Trophy, along with Wilson representative Andy Curtis.
  • Work with the grounds crew.
  • Present the official lineup card to the umpires.
  • Participate in the Starting Nine during the national anthem.
  • Announce the lineups.
  • Announce the first batter.
  • Change the bases during the 3rd and 6th innings.
  • Dance with the Phanatic.

Also, all children 14 and under receive a Citizens Bank Park Commemorative Baseball, courtesy of Turkey Hill. Plus, sketches of each player drawn by Phillies Phundamentals children will replace the lineup headshots on PhanaVision.
