PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies continue to expand their front office and analytics staff.
The Phils announced Friday they have added two positions, hiring former outfielder as their Major League player information coordinator and Ben Werthan as their Minor League player information coordinator.
The Phillies said both will work closely with players, coaches, the front-office staff and the research and development department. They will help "integrate the use of information in all areas of on-field performance and preparation and make recommendations regarding the most effective areas of future research and analysis."
Fuld, 35, played parts of eight seasons with the Cubs (2007, '09-10), Rays ('11-13), A's ('14, '15) and Twins ('14). He is a '04 graduate of Stanford University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in economics.
Werthan, 31, spent the past six years as the advance scouting coordinator with the Orioles. He reported directly to O's manager Buck Showalter, leading the team's advance scouting process. Werthan graduated from Dickinson College in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
