Brown expects to be back in lineup Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies left fielder Domonic Brown expects to be back in the lineup Wednesday.

He will begin a rehab assignment Monday, playing with Class A Lakewood in Hagerstown on Monday and with Double-A Reading in Harrisburg on Tuesday.

Brown has been on the concussion disabled list since July 23.

It will be interesting to see how the Phillies configure their lineup once Brown returns. They have committed to playing rookies Cody Asche and Darin Ruf fairly regularly the final two months of the season. Asche is playing third base, while Ruf can play first base and left field.

If Michael Young continues to play at first base with Asche at third, the Phillies appear to have a logjam in the outfield with Brown, Ruf, John Mayberry Jr. and Delmon Young. The Phillies could move Brown to right field, which is where he played coming up through the Minor Leagues.

Brown said Sunday he has not been asked about moving back to right field.

Of course, if that happens that means a potential playing time problem for Delmon Young.

Asked about the potential logjam in the outfield, Young said, "I'm not the manager. You'll have to ask [Charlie Manuel] on that one."

"We've got to figure that out yet," Manuel said. "That's a problem that we've got."
