Worley to work through bone chip in elbow

PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies right-hander Vance Worley said before Sunday's game against the Red Sox that he should start throwing again in the next few days.

"We'll see where that takes us," Worley said.

Worley was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with right elbow inflammation, though Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said that day that there was no structural damage in the elbow.

On Sunday, Worley could not offer a timetable for his return, but admitted he also had a bone chip in his elbow that he will have to work through. Worley said he hopes that the rest brings down the elbow inflammation, and in the meantime, he's been doing a lot of running.

"It's just right where we want to be, I guess," Worley said of his rehab. "I'm not throwing for another couple days. Just kind of taking it day by day right now."

Before going on the disabled list, Worley was 3-2 with a 3.07 ERA in seven starts. Kyle Kendrick has taken his spot in the rotation.
