New Sun Shades for Dugouts at Phillies Urban Youth Academy

Thanks to the Peggy Spiegler Melanoma Research Foundation and White Aisle Foundation, the softball dugouts at the Phillies Urban Youth Academy (UYA) at FDR Park are now covered with new sun shades, providing relief and protection from the sun's harmful UV rays. The new shade structures were officially unveiled in mid-October during a brief on-field ceremony at the UYA softball field. Among those in attendance were Phillies RBI softball players who are members of the UYA, as well representatives from the Phillies, Spiegler Melanoma Research Foundation (PSMRF), and White Aisle Foundation. Afterwards, RBI players participated in a free clinic taught by The University of the Sciences Devils Softball Team. The UYA is a facility that was built by The Phillies, Major League Baseball, and The City for inner-city youth to have first class fields to play on free of charge.
