To kick off Latino/Hispanic Heritage Month, the Pirates hosted a special on-field presentation celebrating the Latino/Hispanic heritage of its current uniformed staff by uniting them with Pittsburgh Spanish-speaking youth from the Latino Community Center - each displaying their country's flag, but now call Pittsburgh home.

To celebrate the life and legacy of Roberto Clemente, the Pirates packed five CARE-a-vans with players, coaches, alumni and the Clemente Family, and spent the morning of September 18 serving five different communities throughout the city of Pittsburgh - Pirates Fiesta at Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU) Latino Family Center, Summer Slugger School Assembly at Center Elementary School, Good Sports Equipment Distribution at Westinghouse Academy, Care Package Packing Event with Operation Troop Appreciation, and a field trip to the Clemente Museum with Pittsburgh Arsenal PreK-5.

The Pirates also celebrated the Latino/Hispanic heritage of its current uniformed staff with a special on-field presentation that united Pirates Spanish-speaking players, coaches and staff with Pittsburgh Spanish-speaking youth - AIU Latino Family Center and Iglesia Cristiana Hispana - each displaying their country's flag, but now call Pittsburgh home.
