The Pittsburgh Pirates and Chick-fil-A have teamed up to share a message of kindness with elementary and middle school students in the Pittsburgh region. Pirates In-Game Host Joe Klimchak, along with the Pirate Parrot and Chick-fil-A Cow, lead an hour-long assembly showing students how little acts of kindness can make a big difference in their schools and communities. The assemblies include a message on the many benefits of being kind, as well as a video showing Pirates players doing random acts of kindness, such as serving school lunches, buying shoes for underserved children and spreading joy at special events with simple smiles and high-fives. Another video is shown featuring pre-taped interviews of Pirates players speaking directly to kids about the importance of being nice and helping others. Students also get the chance to win Pirates tickets by answering questions related to kindness and go for the "Box of Mystery" stuffed with kid-friendly items and autographed Pirates memorabilia.
