Cutch earns NL Player of the Week honors

Pirates star clubbed first grand slam during 8-RBI game Tuesday

October 2nd, 2017

Pirates center fielder was selected as the National League Player of the Week for Sept. 25-Oct. 1 after a prolific stretch of production that included his first career grand slam.
After 1,342 games and 5,812 plate appearances in the Majors, McCutchen broke one of the more curious droughts in baseball with his grand slam Tuesday against the Orioles -- one of two homers and four hits he registered that day.

For the week, McCutchen went 8-for-17 with three doubles, two homers and nine RBIs. He hit safely in all five games in which he appeared. The nine-year veteran was scratched from the linup Saturday due to left foot discomfort.
This was McCutchen's seventh NL Player of the Week Award, and his first since Aug. 2015.
