Pirates set to host "Fan Appreciation Day" Sunday, September 30

The Pittsburgh Pirates are set to host “Fan Appreciation Day” this Sunday, September 30 as the Pirates take on the Cincinnati Reds at 1:35 p.m. The day’s festivities, which include a variety of events and giveaways scheduled to take place before, during and after the game, are the Pirates’ way of saying “thank you” to the fans for all their support throughout the season.

Before the afternoon game, Pirates players and coaches will be at the gates inside PNC Park from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. to greet and thank fans for their support as they enter the ballpark. Due to time constraints, photos will be allowed, but players and coaches will not be able to sign autographs. During the game several fans will be selected at random to receive prizes including autographed memorabilia, tickets to 2013 Pirates home games, a 42” LG Flat Screen television, trip for two to Spring Training, gift cards to local stores and more. Also throughout the game, Pirates players will be announcing on the video board seat locations of fans chosen for the opportunity to go onto the field post-game and receive a game worn jersey autographed by the Pirates player.

Also the Pirates urge fans to get to their seats early as there will be a special pregame ceremony commemorating the 40th anniversary of Roberto Clemente’s 3000th hit. To honor and celebrate the anniversary of the occasion, Pirates broadcaster and Clemente teammate Steve Blass will be joined on the field with Clemente’s wife, Vera, and sons Roberto Jr., Luis and Enrique for a pregame ceremony and commemorative video. Joining the family on the field will be Modesto Lacen star of “DC-7: The Roberto Clemente Story.” Lacen was the recipient of an ACE award for his portrayal of Clemente in the off-Broadway musical. In honor of “Fan Appreciation Day,” one lucky fan will win a framed vintage Clemente Jersey.

Of course, Sunday is always Kids Day at PNC Park. Come down early and join the fun as the #1 Cochran Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, face painting, information about the #1 Cochran Bucaroos Kids Club and more. Following the game, all kids 14 and under are invited to run the bases at PNC Park. And finally all fans in attendance, with paid admission, will receive a free Pirates fleece blanket presented by Highmark.

For tickets to “Fan Appreciation Day” or any other remaining home game, please visit, the PNC Park Box Office or call 1-877-893-2827.
