Pirates announce 2014 Spring Training broadcast schedule

For the Second Straight Season All Pirates Grapefruit League Action to be Covered via Television, Radio or Webcast

The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the complete broadcast schedule for the team's 2014 Spring
Training Grapefruit League games. The broadcast schedule begins with the team's Spring Training Home Opener at McKechnie Field, a 1:05 p.m. radio broadcast vs. the New York Yankees on Wednesday, February 26.

Fans will have the opportunity to watch or listen to every Pirates game during the 2014 Grapefruit
League season via team official broadcast partners ROOT SPORTS and 93-7 THE FAN, the Pirates RadioNetwork and webcasts on

ROOT SPORTS will carry FIVE Pirates Spring Training games this Grapefruit League season, including the final Spring Training game in Philadelphia on Saturday, March 29. Coverage of Spring Training games will start with a 30-minute Pregame and conclude with a 30-minute Postgame show. In all, ROOT SPORTS will broadcast three afternoon games and two night contests. They include:

• Sunday, March 9 vs. Boston Red Sox at 1:05 p.m.
• Monday, March 17 vs. New York Yankees at 1:05 p.m.
• Wednesday, March 19 at Boston Red Sox (Fort Myers) at 7:05 p.m.
• Friday, March 21 at New York Yankees (Tampa) at 7:05 p.m.
• Saturday, March 29 at Philadelphia Phillies (Philadelphia) at 1:05 p.m.

In addition to five spring training games, ROOT SPORTS will also air exclusive Pirates programming prior to the start of the season with new editions of Inside Pirates Baseball, with an in-depth Spring Training show and a 2014 Season Preview. Also scheduled are the popular Pirates Playbacks, a replay of a definitive game from the Pirates 2013 season every Sunday night at 7 p.m. through March 23.

On the radio side, 93-7 The Fan and the Pirates Radio Network will carry a total of 16 Spring Training
contests, beginning with the Spring Training Home Opener. It will also include both games in Philadelphia at the end of the spring schedule. In addition to the broadcast schedule, the Pirates exclusive radio partner will provide complete updates throughout the entire Spring Training schedule that begins when pitchers and catchers first workout at Pirate City on February 13.

Fans are also encouraged to tune in to 93-7 The Fan and the Pirates Radio Network for two Neal
Huntington Shows scheduled to be broadcast throughout Spring Training. The first show is scheduled to air Sunday, March 2 prior to the 1:05 p.m. game vs. the Philadelphia Phillies with the second scheduled for Sunday, March 23 prior to the 1:05 p.m. game in Sarasota (Orioles).

All Pirates Grapefruit League games not telecast on ROOT SPORTS or broadcast on 93-7 The Fan can be heard via webcast at The team's online site will carry up to 13 Spring Training broadcasts this season.

Steve Blass, Greg Brown, Tim Neverett, Bob Walk and John Wehner will once again call the action
throughout the 2014 season. Brown and Neverett will handle the play-by-play duties while Blass, Walk
and Wehner serve as color analysts.
