Pirates announce signings of J.B. Shuck and Brandon Maurer

The Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to terms on Minor League contracts with pitcher Brandon Maurer and outfielder J.B. Shuck on Wednesday, which include invitations to big league camp.

The Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to terms on Minor League contracts with pitcher Brandon Maurer and outfielder J.B. Shuck on Wednesday, which include invitations to big league camp.
Brandon Maurer (RHP) - Has gone 16-31 with 36 saves and a 5.36 ERA (371.0ip/221er) in 289 career appearances (21 starts) with Seattle (2013-14), San Diego (2015-17) and Kansas City (2017-18)…Split the 2018 campaign between Kansas City and Triple-A Omaha.
J.B. Shuck (OF) - Began the 2018 season with Triple-A New Orleans before having his contract selected by Miami on April 13….Appeared in 70 games last season with the Marlins…Has a .244 career average with 39 doubles, nine triples, eight home runs and 84 RBI in 434 games in the big leagues with Houston (2011), the Los Angeles Angels (2013-14), Cleveland (2014), Chicago White Sox (2015-16) and Miami (2018).
Additionally, the club has signed right-handed pitcher Vicente Campos to a minor league contract. Campos has gone 35-31 with a 4.00 ERA (526.0ip/234er) in his minor league career. He made a combined 12 appearances (one start) in 2018 with Triple-A Salt Lake and Double-A Mobile. He also pitched for the independent Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League in 2018.
