Pirates CARE-a-van Tour schedule set for 2019

On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced the schedule for the Pirates CARE-a-van, which will take place from Wednesday, January 23 through Friday, January 25. The 2019 CARE-a-van will participate in community events over three days leading up to the 2019 PiratesFest, presented by Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh, at PNC Park.

January 22nd, 2019

On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced the schedule for the Pirates CARE-a-van, which will take place from Wednesday, January 23 through Friday, January 25. The 2019 CARE-a-van will participate in community events over three days leading up to the 2019 PiratesFest, presented by Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh, at PNC Park.

The CARE-a-van will host nearly 30 events impacting 11 cities in the greater Pittsburgh area, including stops in Erie, PA, Altoona, PA - home of the Pirates Double-A affiliate the Altoona Curve; Morgantown, WV - home of the Pirates Single-A affiliate the West Virginia Black Bears; Youngstown, OH, and many other locations.

CARE-a-van events will include a meal delivery to all six Pittsburgh Police Zone Stations on Friday, as the CARE-a-van travelling party will be joined by Pirates executives and front office employees as they bring lunch to our city's law enforcement officers. Other CARE-a-van events will include visits to schools, Boys & Girls Clubs and several non-profit, community-based organizations.

Pirates players and prospects scheduled to take part in this year's CARE-a-van include Josh Bell, Steven Brault, J.T. Brubaker, Jung Ho Kang, Kevin Kramer, Nick Kingham, Jesus Liranzo, Jason Martin, Kevin Newman and Cole Tucker. In addition to players, Pirates coaches Heberto Andrade, Kimera Bartee, Joey Cora, Jacob Cruz, Justin Meccage, Tom Prince and Euclides Rojas will take part in the three-day event. The players and coaches will be divided into three separate traveling groups.

The annual Winter CARE-a-van is presented by the Pirates in partnership with Pirates Charities, the philanthropic arm of the organization.
