Pirates charities to host 'Pittsburgh Pirates home run 5K/10K'

Pirates Charities, the official philanthropic arm of the Pittsburgh Pirates, announced today the Pittsburgh Pirates Home Run 5K/10K, presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and Allegheny Health Network, is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2019.

Pirates Charities, the official philanthropic arm of the Pittsburgh Pirates, announced today the Pittsburgh Pirates Home Run 5K/10K, presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and Allegheny Health Network, is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2019.
The morning event starts on Pittsburgh's North Shore, on North Shore Drive, and all participants will have the opportunity to cross the finish line on the field at PNC Park.
Fans are encouraged to begin to register now at pirates.com/HomeRun.
The race is open to fans of all ages and abilities with staggered start times beginning at 7:30 a.m. (time subject to change). Competitive runners can choose to run in the 10K or 5K individually or take part in the team challenge, where teams of four runners can compete against other teams based on average overall time. Top 10K and 5K male and female individual runners in each age group (under 15, 16-19 and 10 year age groups from 20 to 70-plus), as well as top male, female and co-ed teams, will be recognized on the field
at PNC Park prior to a Pirates home game.
Fans who do not wish to run are welcome to join in on the fun by walking the 5K route.
All participants (runners and walkers) will receive a specially designed commemorative Pittsburgh Pirates Home Run medal after they cross the finish line.
Registration for the Pittsburgh Pirates Home Run begins at $50 per person for the 10K and $35 per person for the 5K. Team registrations for the 10K are available for $200 per team of four and $140 per team of four for the 5K. Please check the home page for the complete pricing structure.
All participants are invited to the post-race party that will be held on Federal Street immediately following the event and will feature complimentary food and beverages. In addition to the commemorative medal, 10K and 5K participants will receive a Pittsburgh Pirates Home Run tech t-shirt and a ticket voucher good for one complimentary ticket to select Pirates games at PNC Park in April and May. Ticket dates are based upon availability.
Fans are encouraged to show their Pirates pride and the participant with the most festive Pirates attire will win a customized jersey and two complimentary tickets to an upcoming game at PNC Park.
In 2018, over 3,000 participants took part in the sixth annual Home Run race and raised nearly $143,000 to help support Pirates Charities' many local community and charitable initiatives.
In addition to Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and Allegheny Health Network, the other 2019 Pirates Charities Home Run sponsors to date include Alco Parking, ARAMARK, AT&T SportsNet, Giant Eagle, Dasani, 93.7 The Fan, Y108, KDKA, Star 100.7, Cellone's, Silverstar, Dunkin', Fleet Feet, Mrs. T's Pierogies, Rivendale Farms and Utz.
Complimentary parking will be available, courtesy of Alco Parking, for all participants beginning at 5 a.m. Fans should plan to arrive prior to 7 a.m. in order to guarantee a complimentary parking spot.
