Pirates Homestand Highlights Monday, September 3 - Sunday, September 9, 2018

Pirates Return to PNC Park for the 11th Time in 2018

The Pirates return to PNC Park for the 11th homestand of the season, a six-game stop vs the Cincinnati Reds and Miami Marlins.

The homestand is highlighted by the Pirates annual Roberto Clemente Day celebration that will take place on Wednesday, September 5. During the day Pirates players, coaches and staff will visit five area organizations for a day of service projects.

Monday, September 3, 2018 - Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds (1:35 p.m.) - Labor Day

  • Byrnes Visit: MLB Network's Eric Byrnes will be here as part of his Triathlon Across America in support of his Let Them Play Foundation. Byrnes' mission is to bring awareness to the dwindling Physical Education programs in public schools across the country. Byrnes began his journey on July 22 by jumping into McCovey Cove in San Francisco, he has since biked 2,344 miles to Chicago and is now running to New York City. Tonight, Byrnes will take part in an on-field pregame check presentation and will toss out an honorary first pitch.


Tuesday, September 4, 2018 - Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds (7:05 p.m.)

  • Pups in the Park: Fans can enjoy Bucco baseball with their pooch as the Pirates host one of 11 Pup Nights, presented by Rachael Ray Nutrish, at PNC Park. Each ticket package (1 person & 1 dog) costs just $36 with additional human tickets available for $36 each. A portion of the proceeds benefit local animal shelters and seats are limited and subject to availability. For complete information, visit
  • Pirates Play Ball Team of the Game: The Pirates continue their season-long initiative honoring a youth baseball/softball team(s) of the game every Tuesday home game. Tonight, the Pirates will honor the Central Valley Warriors 8U tournament team. The youngest team in their division, the Warriors persevered through a season of growing pains to win their final tournament of the season on their home field.


Wednesday, September 5, 2018 - Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds (7:05 p.m.) - Roberto Clemente Day

  • The Clemente Day CARE-a-Van: Today, the Pirates and Pirates Charities will honor the life and legacy of the great Roberto Clemente with a day of service projects around the greater Pittsburgh area involving Pirates players, coaches, front office executives and staff as well as alumni, including the Clemente family and players' wives. All events will be held between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and include: 
  • Allegheny Intermediate Unit Latino Family Center visit - During the visit, the participants will have an opportunity to mix-and-mingle with players and coaches while enjoying authentic Spanish cuisine prepared by mothers and wives at the center. Pirates Charities is also donating needed supplies to the Latino Family Center to assist the families they serve. Donated items include food for the center's food pantry and clothing for youth who visit the center. Food is donated with the assistance of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. AIU Latino Family Center supports and assists Latino families with the necessary tools and resources they need to strengthen the family unit and raise healthy and happy children.
  • Shred Hate School Assembly at Brashear High School - Pirates players and coaches will visit Brashear High School in partnership with "No Bully" to conduct a school assembly to educate students on Roberto Clemente's legacy while supporting the school's "Shred Hate" curriculum. Brashear is one of 23 schools piloting the "Shred Hate" initiative, an anti-bullying program created by ESPN in partnership with the nonprofit No Bully and sponsored by MLB and the X Games. In addition to the assembly, Pirates Charities will provide lunch for the school, in partnership with Slice on Broadway.
  • Miracle League Fantasy Camp at PNC Park - Pirates players and coaches will take part in a special Miracle League Fantasy Camp, in PNC Park's outfield and bullpen, for adult participants from local Miracle League programs supported by Pirates Charities. Players and coaches will serve as instructors at skill stations throughout the field as participants rotate through areas to practice catching, fielding, hitting and more. After the morning event, lunch will be provided by Chick-fil-A and Rivendale Farms, for all participants.
  • Southwestern Veterans Center Visit - Pirates players and coaches will be on-hand to visit with Veterans and act as celebrity Bingo callers today at the Southwestern Veterans Center. Pirates prizes will be provided for all participating Veterans throughout the event as well as Rivendale chocolate milk and cookies. Southwestern Veterans Center provides healthcare and related services to Veterans who are disabled, chronically ill or in need of specialized care.
  • "Fun at Bat" Event at the Conroy Education Center - Today, Pirates players and coaches will take part in a "Fun at Bat" event with special needs students. Pittsburgh Conroy Education Center provides a range of services to students ages five to 21 who have life skills support, autistic support and multiple disability support needs. The Pirates partnered with the Pittsburgh Public Schools in 2018 to incorporate "Fun at Bat," an introductory bat and ball game created by USA Baseball, into physical education curriculum. In addition to the morning event, lunch will be provided by Chick-fil-A for all participants.
  • Honorary Pitch: Tonight, as part of the Pirates and Pittsburgh Cares Volunteer All-Star program, Nicholas Mynarski will be recognized as the program's 2018 Volunteer of the Year. The Pirates teamed up with Pittsburgh Cares to combine two great all-American pastimes, baseball and volunteerism. Fans received two complimentary tickets for every four hours of community service, verified by Pittsburgh Cares, from the Pirates season opener in March, through Friday, August 17. Mynarski served the most hours (48) in that time.
  • #PonleAcento: For the third consecutive year, MLB and its Clubs will continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with an initiative that includes the #PonleAcento campaign, which literally means, "to put an accent on it". The program aims to show all the ways Latinos have put an accent on the game, both on and off the field. This month, throughout MLB, logos with accent marks on the silhouetted batter will be featured in ballparks, on MLB traditional and social media, as well as on batting practice t-shirts worn by the players. Game-Used Bases: Special Clemente Day game-used bases from tonight's game will be available at the Hunt Auction kiosk (located behind section 125) or by emailing

Friday, September 7, 2018 - Pirates vs. Miami Marlins (7:05 p.m.)  

  • Free Shirt Friday: Tonight, the Pirates popular Free Shirt Fridays continue as the first 20,000 fans, with paid admission, will receive a Pirates Roberto Clemente tee, presented by Sugardale.
  • Dollar Dog Night: As a special thank you to the fans, the Pirates announced the Dollar Dog fan value promotion, presented by Sugardale, on select Friday nights at PNC Park. During one of the eight "Dollar Dog" nights throughout the season, fans can visit any North Shore concession stand throughout the ballpark and purchase regular hot dogs for just one dollar each.
  • Miller Lite Happy Hour: Tonight, and now every Friday Night home game, the Pirates will host a special Happy Hour, presented by Miller Lite, at the Crow's Nest Bar from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Visit the Crow's Nest Bar for live music and half-priced cans of Miller Lite, Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy and Blue Moon.
  • University Night with CAL U: Tonight, the Pirates will host University Night with California University of Pennsylvania. All fans who purchase University Night tickets will receive a ticket in one of two special sections and a Pirates/CAL U hat. This season the Pirates will host University Nights on select dates.   • Felipe Vazquez Bobble: Today, the first 20,000 fans with paid admission will receive a Felipe Vazquez bobblehead, presented by Rivendale Farms.
  • Saturday on the North Shore: Today's North Shore schedule also includes an 8 p.m. Saturday night college football game at Heinz Field. Fans can find suggested traffic and parking information, to ensure the safety and convenience of those attending each event, at


Sunday, September 9, 2018 - Pirates vs. Miami Marlins (1:35 p.m.)-Kids Day

  • Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the #1 Cochran Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, face painting, information about the Bucaroos Kids Club, presented by Chick-fil-A and more.
  • Kids Marte Jersey: Today, all kids ages 14 and younger, with paid admission, will receive a Starling Marte replica Pirates Sunday gold jersey, presented by Chevrolet.

  • Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today's game are invited to stick around after to run the bases on the field at PNC Park with the Kids Run the Bases, presented by Rivendale.

Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffles

The Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffle, supported by Rivers Casino, will take place during each Pirates home game throughout the season. Raffle ticket prices are two (2) tickets for $5, five (5) tickets for $10, 20 tickets for $20 and 80 tickets for $40, with all proceeds benefiting Pirates Charities. Raffle ticket sales close after the last out in the sixth inning. The winning number will be drawn and announced in the 8th inning and the winner will receive 50 percent of the total pot. Winning numbers will also be posted on within three business days.
