Pirates set 40-man roster

The Pittsburgh Pirates have added four players to their 40-man roster. There are now 40 players on the current roster (23 pitchers, three catchers, nine infielders and five outfielders).

J.T. Brubaker (RHP) - Was named Pittsburgh's Minor League Pitcher-of-the-Year in 2018 after going a combined 10-6 with a 2.81 ERA (154.0ip/48er) and 131 strikeouts in 28 starts between Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis ... Led all Pittsburgh minor leaguers in ERA and ranked second in strikeouts in 2018 ... Was Pittsburgh's sixth round selection in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft.
Mitch Keller (RHP) - Is currently ranked as Pittsburgh's No. 1 prospect by Baseball America and MLBPipeline.com (is also ranked 16th overall by MLBPipeline) ... Went a combined 12-4 with a 3.48 ERA (142.1ip/55er) and 135 strikeouts in 25 starts in 2018 between Altoona, Indianapolis and Bradenton ... Represented the Pirates at the 2018 All-Star Futures Game ... Was Pittsburgh's Minor League Pitcher-of-the-Year in 2016 after going 9-5 with a 2.35 ERA (130.1ip/34er) and a career-high 138 strikeouts in 24 starts between the West Virginia Power and Bradenton ... Was Pittsburgh's second round selection in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft.
Jason Martin (OF) - Hit a combined .274 (128-for-468) with 18 doubles, eight triples, 13 home runs, 55 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 69 runs scored in 127 games between Altoona and Indianapolis in 2018 ... Hit .325 for Altoona before being promoted to Indianapolis on June 28 (his .325 average was fifth in the Eastern League at the time of his promotion) ... Was one of four players acquired by Pittsburgh from Houston on January 13, 2018.
Cole Tucker (INF) - Hit .259 (134-for-517) with 21 doubles, seven triples, five home runs, 44 RBI and 35 stolen bases in 133 games with Altoona in 2018 ... Entered the 2018 campaign rated as Pittsburgh's sixth-best prospect and as the "Fastest Baserunner" by Baseball America ... Led the Eastern League in games played and stolen bases and tied for the league lead in triples in 2018 ... Also led all Eastern League shortstops with a .973 fielding percentage in 2018 ... Hit .370 (30-fo-81) with five doubles, one triple, 11 RBI, six stolen bases and a .899 OPS in the Arizona Fall League; he ranked third among the league leaders in batting average and fourth with a .442 on-base percentage while also being named to the Fall Stars Game ... Was Pittsburgh's first round selection
(24th pick overall) in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft.
