Pirates sign Francisco Liriano to Minor League deal

The Pittsburgh Pirates today agreed to terms on a minor league contract with left-handed pitcher Francisco Liriano, which includes an invitation to big league camp.

The Pittsburgh Pirates today agreed to terms on a minor league contract with left-handed pitcher Francisco Liriano, which includes an invitation to big league camp.  
The 35-year-old Liriano enters the 2019 season with 1752 strikeouts in his big league career; the fifth-highest total among Dominican-born pitchers in Major League history. He spent the 2018 season with Detroit after capturing a World Series title with Houston in 2017. Liriano pitched for Pittsburgh from 2013-16, going 41-36 with a 3.67 ERA and 659 strikeouts in 107 starts. He was the starter and winner in the 2013 Wild Card Game vs. Cincinnati; allowed one run over 7.0 innings while winning a 6-2 decision against Johnny Cueto.
