Pirates sign outfielder Daniel Nava to Minor League contract

The Pittsburgh Pirates today officially agreed to terms with outfielder Daniel Nava on a minor league contract, which includes an invitation to big league camp.

The Pittsburgh Pirates today officially agreed to terms with outfielder Daniel Nava on a minor league contract, which includes an invitation to big league camp.
The 34-year-old Nava hit .301 (55-for-183) with eight doubles, one triple, four home runs and 21 RBI in 80 games last season while playing for Philadelphia. He reached base safely in 35 of his 39 starts in 2017, while making a total of 32 starts in left field, five in right field and one each at first base and as the designated hitter. The switch-hitting Nava also hit .321 (9-for-28) and recorded a .394 on-base percentage as a pinch hitter.
Nava has produced a .266 average (452-for-1701), 103 doubles, two triples, 29 home runs and 206 RBI in 589 games in the big leagues with Boston (2010-2015), Tampa Bay (2015), the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (2016), Kansas City (2016) and Philadelphia (2017).
