The Pirates have recalled RHP Nick Tropeano from club’s alternate training site and have optioned RHP Nick Mears.

Tropeano, who was claimed off waivers from the Yankees on August 11, will wear uniform #72. He did not appear in a game with New York this season.

A fifth round pick of the Astros in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, Tropeano made his Major League debut with Houston in 2014.

He was acquired by Los Angeles (AL) on 11/5/14 and spent parts of four seasons with the Angels.

In 42 career big league games (39 starts), Tropeano has gone 12-14 with a 4.51 ERA.
