The 2018 Seattle Mariners Caravan makes stops in Tacoma and Lacey next week as the annual tour heads to the South Sound with pitchers Andrew Moore and Dan Altavilla, broadcaster Dave Sims and the Mariner Moose.

The 2018 Seattle Mariners Caravan makes stops in Tacoma and Lacey next week as the annual tour heads to the South Sound with pitchers Andrew Moore and Dan Altavilla, broadcaster Dave Sims and the Mariner Moose.

At various stops on the Caravan, current, former and future Seattle Mariners players, broadcasters and the Mariner Moose host assemblies for elementary school students, meet Boys & Girls Club members, visit hospitals and host free public autograph and photo sessions.

The Mariner Moose DREAM Team is a fun-filled program that stresses the importance of the DREAM principles: Drug-free, Respect for yourself and others, Education through reading, Attitude, and Motivation to achieve your dreams.

Splitting time between Seattle and AAA Tacoma, pitcher Dan Altavilla made 41 relief appearances for the Mariners last season. In his final 16 appearances at the Big League level, Altavilla posted a 1.74 ERA. During his time with the Mariners, Altavilla struck out 10.03 batters per 9.0 innings, making him one of 11 rookies in club history with more than 10 strikeouts per nine innings.

Oregon State product Andrew Moore made his Major League debut with the Mariners on June 22, 2017 with a win against the Detroit Tigers. The Springfield, Oregon native began last season with the AA Arkansas Travelers where he allowed two or fewer earned runs in five of six appearances. Moore was promoted to AAA Tacoma on May 8, where he got off to a 3-0 start. Moore, who split time between Seattle and Tacoma, made nine starts for the Mariners in 2017.

Dave Sims is entering his 12th season as a member of the Mariners broadcast team. In addition to baseball, the two-time Emmy Award winning Sims has done play-by-play for college basketball on ESPN as well as NFL games on Westwood One/CBS Radio Sports. In addition, Sims and Duke University coach Mike Kryzewski co-host Basketball & Beyond with Coach K on XM Satellite Radio.

Other stops during Week 2 of the Caravan include Centralia, Vancouver, Portland, Kelso and Longview. Week 3 stops will include Bellingham, Mt. Vernon, Vancouver, B.C., Bellevue and Kirkland. A schedule of public appearances for the Caravan is available at Mariners.com/Caravan.
