OAKLAND -- The Oakland A's announced the following medical update on left-handed pitcher Sean Manaea:
Manaea will have arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder on Sept. 19. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Neil ElAttrache at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles. The club will provide further details after the surgery has been completed.
Manaea, 26, was 12-9 with one complete game and a 3.59 ERA (64 ER, 160.2 IP) with 108 strikeouts in 27 starts for Oakland this season. His 3.59 ERA is a career best, he tied a career high in wins (12 in 2017) and set a new high for innings (158.2 in 2017).
