A's recall 1B/OF Olson from Nashville; option RHP Mengden to Nashville

The Oakland A's recalled first baseman/outfielder Matt Olson from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Daniel Mengden to Nashville, the club announced today.

The Oakland A's recalled first baseman/outfielder Matt Olson from Triple-A Nashville and optioned right-handed pitcher Daniel Mengden to Nashville, the club announced today.
Olson joins the A's for the second time this year after going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in one game in right field during his first stint from April 21 to 26. He batted .285 with 14 home runs and 37 RBI in 47 games with Nashville. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter is tied for third in the Pacific Coast League in home runs, ranks fifth in slugging (.575), eighth in OPS (.949), tied for ninth in total bases (103) and 10th in walks (26). Olson batted .338 with seven doubles, nine home runs and 23 RBI over his final 20 games, including his second two-homer game of the season and his third four-RBI game in his last game on Friday at Iowa. He appeared in 44 games at first base and one at third base.
Mengden was recalled from Nashville on Monday and went 0-1 with a 10.13 ERA and .371 opponents batting average in two starts with Oakland. He began the season on the 10-day disabled list following Feb. 8 surgery on his right foot and was 2-1 with 2.21 ERA and .189 opponents batting average in four starts with the Sounds.
