A’s Recall RHP Mengden from Las Vegas; Option RHP Wendelken to Las Vegas

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s recalled right-handed pitcher Daniel Mengden from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned right-handed pitcher J.B. Wendelken to Las Vegas, the club announced today.

 Mengden was 3-2 with a 2.77 ERA and .197 opponents batting average in seven games, six starts, with the Aviators. He is tied for second in the Pacific Coast League in strikeouts (44), ranks third in opponents batting average and fifth in ERA. Mengden went 2-0 with a 4.24 ERA over his first three games and is 1-2 with a 1.64 ERA in four starts since then. He was 1-2 with a 5.73 ERA in four games, including three starts, this spring when he was optioned to Las Vegas March 11.

 Wendelken was on the A’s Opening Day roster and has a 5.57 ERA and .241 opponents batting average in 18 relief appearances. He logged a 1.59 ERA over his first seven games but has a 10.24 ERA in 11 games since then.
