• I am honored to be here on behalf of the Phillies and Toyota to talk about the “Salute to Service” celebration we’re having at the ballpark tonight to honor our nation’s heroes.

• It’s always a great tribute to truly recognize those who make the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

• This means a lot to me, personally, as one of my closest friends is currently serving as a team leader in the Scout Reconnaissance Platoon. His name is Sergeant Kevin Caldwell, and I’ve known him since kindergarten. He was even a groomsman in my wedding.

• Kevin has made two deployments to Afghanistan, and although he can’t make it to the tribute as he is serving, he knows that we will be thinking of him, as well as the countless others who have given their lives for their country.

• Hope our fans can join us – get to the ballpark early, as the Phillies Salute to Service presented by Toyota starts 6:30 p.m.
