HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros have agreed to terms on one-year contracts with outfielder Jake Marisnick and right-handed pitchers Will Harris, Lance McCullers Jr., Collin McHugh, Roberto Osuna, Brad Peacock and Ryan Pressly. The announcement was made by Astros President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Jeff Luhnow. All seven players were arbitration-eligible. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Marisnick, 27, appeared in 103 games for the Astros in 2018, including 57 starts in center field (63). He finished his season ranking seventh among all American League outfielders in runs saved (11) and committed only one error on the season (in 143 total chances). At the plate, Marisnick connected for eight doubles and 10 home runs in 213 at-bats. Originally acquired in a trade with Miami in 2014, Marisnick has played for the Astros in each of the last five seasons (2014-18).
Harris, 34, appeared in 61 games for the Astros in 2018, posting a 5-3 record and a 3.49 ERA (22ER/56.2IP). He recorded career bests in both groundball rate (53.1%) and swing and miss rate (31.9%) and compiled a 2.48 FIP, good for 10th among American League relievers. A veteran of seven Major League seasons, Harris has pitched four seasons with the Astros, appearing in 241 games for Houston, with a 2.58 ERA (68ER/237IP).
McCullers Jr., 25, posted a 10-6 record with a 3.86 ERA (55ER/128.1IP) in 25 games, including 22 starts, in 2018. He set career highs in multiple categories, including strikeouts (142), innings pitched, wins and appearances. The 2017 All-Star underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow on Nov. 6, 2018, and is expected to miss the 2019 season. Selected by the Astros with the 41st overall pick in the first round of the 2012 draft, McCullers has gone 29-22 with a 3.67 ERA (185ER/453.2IP) and 509 strikeouts in four seasons with the Astros.
McHugh, 31, had a dominant season out of the bullpen for the Astros in 2018, going 6-2 with a 1.99 ERA (16ER/72.1IP) in 58 relief appearances. Among AL relievers, McHugh ranked fourth in ERA, fourth in WHIP (0.91), fourth in opponent OBP (.252), seventh in opponent batting average (.176) and tied for eighth in strikeouts (94). Originally a waiver claim by the Astros in the 2013-14 offseason, McHugh has gone 54-30 with a 3.51 ERA in five seasons in Houston.
Osuna, 23, appeared in 38 Major League games in 2018, posting a 2.37 ERA (10ER/38IP) with 21 saves. He split his 2018 campaign between the Blue Jays (15g) and Astros (23g), as Houston acquired him on July 30 from Toronto in exchange for three pitchers. In two months in the Astros bullpen, Osuna went 12-for-12 in save opportunities and posted a 1.99 ERA (5ER/22.2IP).

Peacock, 30, made a career-high 61 appearances in 2018, posting a 3.46 ERA (25ER/65IP) with 96 strikeouts in his 65.0 innings pitched. Among American League relievers, Peacock ranked sixth in strikeouts per 9.0 (13.36) and tied for eighth in strikeouts (94). The right-hander was originally acquired from Oakland as part of a five-player deal in 2013.
Pressly, 30, split his 2018 season between Houston (26g) and Minnesota (51g), combining to post a 2.54 ERA (20ER/71IP) in 77 appearances, which led the American League. He also ranked fourth among AL relievers in strikeouts (101), eighth in ERA and ninth in strikeouts per 9.0 (12.80). He was acquired by the Astros on July 27, 2018, in exchange for two prospects, and posted a 0.77 ERA (2ER/23.1IP) in 26 games down the stretch for Houston.
The deadline for clubs and arbitration-eligible players to exchange filing numbers was earlier today. Shortstop Carlos Correa and right-handed pitchers Gerrit Cole and Chris Devenski are the remaining unsigned, arbitration-eligible players on the Astros roster.
