The Best Executive Award is one of several Esurance MLB Awards that are given annually. Fan voting for the "Best Manager" Award will begin on Nov. 14. Astros skipper AJ Hinch is expected to be among the candidates eligible for Best Manager. All winners will be announced live on MLB Network on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. CT.

Luhnow, who joined the Astros as GM in December of 2011, played an instrumental role in securing the first World Series championship in franchise history. Prior to the 2017 season, the Astros signed free agents Charlie Morton, Carlos Beltran and Josh Reddick and traded for veteran catcher Brian McCann. On August 31, Luhnow then completed one of the most significant deals in franchise history, acquiring two-time Cy Young winner Justin Verlander from the Detroit Tigers. These new acquisitions supplemented the young core players that included Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa, George Springer and Dallas Keuchel to help lead the Astros to 101 regular season wins and ultimately to the World Series title.

Previously, MLB.com announced that several Astros players were candidates for Esurance MLB Awards in various categories, including Best Major Leaguer, Postseason (Altuve, Correa, Springer, Verlander), Best Postseason Moment (Bregman, Springer, Correa) and Best Player-Fan Interaction (Joe Musgrove). Additionally, the Astros radio team of Robert Ford and Steve Sparks are also candidates in the Best Call, TV/Radio category. MLB.com will announce fan voting dates for additional categories in the upcoming days.
