Astros official Summer Camp workouts begin Friday

All media must apply for daily credentials for workouts; Deadline for Friday is end of day tomorrow

June 30th, 2020

HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Astros will begin official Summer Camp workouts this Friday, July 3, at Minute Maid Park. Workout and media access times are still to be determined and will be announced as soon as possible. To apply for media credentials for Astros workouts, please do so via Major League Baseball’s Credentialing system (Credentials.mlb.com), the same system the Astros have used in previous seasons.

The application for Friday is now open. Take note, there is a 24-hour deadline to apply for each day you plan on covering. To apply for Friday, you must apply by end of day tomorrow (Wednesday).

The Astros plan on making Manager Dusty Baker and select players available each day via video conference before or after workouts beginning on Friday. There will be no in-person interviews at the workouts, per MLB guidelines. Additionally, the Astros can provide video b-roll of each open workout upon request. Media working at Minute Maid Park and media working remotely will have the same access to the workout video conferences each day. Call-in information will be distributed electronically on the day of the workout.

As is always the case, live streaming is strictly prohibited for video conferences and during workouts at Minute Maid Park.

Per Major League Baseball regulations, the Astros will not issue season credentials in 2020, therefore all media, including BBWAA members, must apply for daily credentials for each Summer Camp workout that they wish to cover. Also per MLB regulations, the Astros are limited in the amount of credentials they can issue per day. Please only apply for workouts that you wish to cover. Due to spacing, the Astros may only be able to accommodate one media member per affiliate per day.

Also beginning Friday, workouts will commence for a select group of Astros players at the University of Houston. Those workouts are closed to the media before, during and after workouts. To request an interview with an Astros player that is training at the University of Houston, please reach out to the Astros Communications Department.

Major League Baseball’s initial media regulations for the 2020 season have been summarized by the Astros Communications Department and are attached to this email. With any questions on the media regulations, please reach out to a member of the Astros Communications Department.
