A’s medical update on Jharel Cotton

Cotton underwent successful right hamstring debridement surgery today

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s announced the following medical update on right-handed pitcher Jharel Cotton:

Cotton had successful right hamstring debridement surgery today, performed by Dr. Daniel Cooper at the North Central Surgical Center in Dallas, TX. Dr. Cooper, who is the Head Physician for the Dallas Cowboys, was very pleased with the outcome.

Jharel will remain in Dallas until next week for his follow-up appointment before returning to Oakland to continue his rehabilitation. 

Cotton, who is also recovering from “Tommy John” surgery, has made three rehab appearances this season with Single-A Stockton. In those three games, he is 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA in 7.0 innings pitched, having thrown a total of 73 pitches. Cotton last appeared in a Major League game on Sept. 24, 2017 in Texas. For his career, he is 11-10 with a 4.95 ERA in 158.1 innings pitched.
