Phillies to Host Championship Games for Local Colleges on Wednesday, April 27

Top Division I & II baseball teams take to the field at Citizens Bank Park for final games of Phillies' Bill Giles Invitational & Liberty Bell Classic, presented by ENGIE

On Wednesday, April 27, local colleges will compete at Citizens Bank Park for the Phillies' Bill Giles Invitational and Liberty Bell Classic championship titles, presented by ENGIE. Both games are open to the public. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the West Ticket Windows (off Citizens Bank Way), with entrance to the ballpark through the Majestic Clubhouse Store. Gates open at 2:45 p.m. Parking is free in Lot S, located off Pattison Avenue.
"The Bill Giles and Liberty Bell Classic tournaments were created to give baseball players from local Division I and II colleges the chance to compete on a major league field," said Jon Joaquin, Phillies Director of Youth Baseball Development. "We wish Rider University, St. Joseph's University, West Chester University, and the University of the Sciences the best of luck as they battle for the championship titles."
COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES - WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27 - CITIZENS BANK PARK
·         3:30 p.m. West Chester University Golden Rams vs. University of the Sciences Devils - 16th Annual Bill Giles Invitational presented by ENGIE
The road to the championship game began every after the semi-final round of the Bill Giles Invitational on Saturday, March 23, with the West Chester University Golden Rams defeating the Wilmington College Wildcats, 5-3. The University of the Sciences Devils defeated the Philadelphia University Rams on Friday, April 1, at Ashburn Field at FDR Park 8-5 to advance to the finals.
The Bill Giles Invitational presented by ENGIE was introduced in 2001 and is a Division II college baseball tournament. For more information, please visit here.
·         7:30 p.m. St. Joseph's University vs. Rider University - 25th Annual Liberty Bell Classic presented by ENGIE
Semi-final action took place on Tuesday, April 5, where St. Joseph's University defeated Villanova University, 8-0, and Rider University defeated Lehigh University, 10-9.
The Liberty Bell Classic presented by ENGIE was created in 1992 as a way for local Division I colleges to compete against each other in a tournament and have the opportunity to play on a major league field. For more information, please visit here.
