The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have claimed INF JIMMY PAREDES off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.
PAREDES, 27, appeared in 104 games for the Orioles last season, batting .275 with 17 doubles, 10 home runs and 42 RBI. The San Cristobal, Dominican Republic native was placed on waivers at the conclusion of a rehab assignment (sprained wrist). The switch-hitter played in 18 minor league games on his rehab with five doubles, two home runs and nine RBI. Paredes is a career .257 hitter in the Majors (249 games) over five seasons.
