Rockies reinstate Greg Holland, recall Raimel Tapia from Triple-A Albuquerque

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated right-handed pitcher Greg Holland from the paternity list and recalled outfielder Raimel Tapia from Triple-A Albuquerque.

The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated right-handed pitcher Greg Holland from the paternity list and recalled outfielder Raimel Tapia from Triple-A Albuquerque. Additionally, the Rockies have optioned right-handed pitcher Carlos Estévez to Triple-A and have designated right-handed pitcher Jordan Lyles for assignment.

  • Holland, 31, was placed on the paternity list Wednesday … is 1-1 with a Major-League leading 31 saves in 32 opportunities this season with Colorado, posting a 1.72 ERA (36.2 IP, 7 ER), 18 walks and 49 strikeouts … his 31 saves are tied for fourth-most in franchise history and the most since Rafael Betancourt recorded 31 in 2012 … in 347 career appearances between Kansas City (2010-2015) and Colorado (2017), is 19-13 with 176 saves in 193 opportunities, posting a 2.35 ERA (356.1 IP, 93 ER), 143 walks and 479 strikeouts.
  • Tapia, 23, has batted .314 (32-for-102) with 20 runs, seven doubles, two triples, two home runs, nine RBI and three stolen bases in 40 games across three stints on the Rockies active roster this season … made his Major League debut for the Rockies on Sept. 2, 2016 vs. Arizona and has hit .300 (42-for-140) with 24 runs, seven doubles, two triples, two home runs, 12 RBI and six stolen bases across 62 career games.
  • Estévez, 24, has combined to go 4-0 with a 8.10 ERA (16.2 IP, 15 ER), six walks and 18 strikeouts in 18 games with Colorado across five stints with the Rockies this season … the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native made his Major League debut for Colorado on April 23, 2016 vs. Los Angeles-NL and has gone 7-7 with 11 saves and a 5.90 ERA (71.2 IP, 47 ER) with 34 walks and 77 strikeouts over 81 career appearances.
  • Lyles, 26, has gone 0-2 with a 6.94 ERA (46.2 IP, 36 ER), 12 walks and 33 strikeouts in 33 appearances with the Rockies this season … in 177 appearances, 102 starts, across parts of seven season with the Houston Astros (2011-13) and Colorado Rockies (2014-17), has gone 27-45 with a 5.29 ERA (658.0 IP, 387 ER), 742 hits, 222 walks and 444 strikeouts … was originally acquired by Colorado via trade with Houston, along with outfielder Brandon Barnes, in exchange for outfielder Dexter Fowler on Dec. 3, 2013.
