PHOENIX -The Arizona Diamondbacks named Triple-A Reno OF Oswaldo Arcia (@arciaoswaldo) and Single-A Kane County RHP Jon Duplantier (@dup_thereitis) the organization's Minor League Player- and Pitcher-of-the-Month for May.
Arcia, 26, hit .367 (29-for-79) with 12 doubles, 6 home runs and 29 RBI in 22 games in May for the Aces. He ranked among Pacific Coast League leaders in May in slugging pct. (1^st, .747), OPS (1^st, 1.166), extra-base hits (1^st, 18), RBI (1^st), doubles (T-2^nd) and average (6^th). A native of Anaco, Venezuela, he signed with the D-backs as a Minor League free agent on Dec. 23, 2016.
Duplantier, 22, is the first pitcher to earn the honor in consecutive months since Archie Bradley in 2013 (April-May), going 4-0 with a 0.79 ERA (3 ER in 34.0 IP) and 34 strikeouts for the Cougars in May. He ranked among Midwest League leaders in May in ERA (2^nd), WHIP (2^nd ,0.71), wins (T-2^nd), opponent average (2^nd, .149), strikeouts (T-3^rd) and innings pitched (T-5^th). In April, he was also named the organization's Minor League Pitcher-of-the-Month after not allowing an earned run in his first 4 starts (20.0 IP). Duplantier was selected by the D-backs in the third round of the 2016 First-Year Player draft out of Rice University.
