D-backs award Oswaldo Arcia, Jon Duplantier with monthly honors

PHOENIX -The Arizona Diamondbacks named Triple-A Reno OF Oswaldo Arcia (@arciaoswaldo) and Single-A Kane County RHP Jon Duplantier (@dup_thereitis) the organization's Minor League Player- and Pitcher-of-the-Month for May.
Arcia, 26, hit .367 (29-for-79) with 12 doubles, 6 home runs and 29 RBI in 22 games in May for the Aces. He ranked among Pacific Coast League leaders in May in slugging pct. (1st, .747), OPS (1st, 1.166), extra-base hits (1st, 18), RBI (1st), doubles (T-2nd) and average (6th). A native of Anaco, Venezuela, he signed with the D-backs as a Minor League free agent on Dec. 23, 2016.
Duplantier, 22, is the first pitcher to earn the honor in consecutive months since Archie Bradley in 2013 (April-May), going 4-0 with a 0.79 ERA (3 ER in 34.0 IP) and 34 strikeouts for the Cougars in May. He ranked among Midwest League leaders in May in ERA (2nd), WHIP (2nd ,0.71), wins (T-2nd), opponent average (2nd, .149), strikeouts (T-3rd) and innings pitched (T-5th). In April, he was also named the organization's Minor League Pitcher-of-the-Month after not allowing an earned run in his first 4 starts (20.0 IP). Duplantier was selected by the D-backs in the third round of the 2016 First-Year Player draft out of Rice University.
