D-backs reinstate T.J. McFarland from 10-day injured list

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated LHP T.J. McFarland from the 10-day Injured List (left shoulder inflammation). Following Sunday’s game, the D-backs optioned RHP Jon Duplantier to Triple-A Reno.

McFarland, 29, will be making his season debut after being placed on the Injured List on March 27 (retro to March 25). He made 3 rehabilitation appearances with Reno and posted a 4.50 ERA (2 ER in 4.0 IP) with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts.

In 2018, McFarland set career bests in numerous categories, including appearances (47), ERA (2.00), WHIP (1.19) and opponent average (.239), while going 2-2 with 1 save and 42 strikeouts. He also ranked among all NL relievers in ground balls (2nd, 153), groundball pct. (3rd, 68.3), groundball-to-flyball ratio (3rd, 4.50) and ERA (4th).

McFarland has gone 18-14 with a 3.94 ERA (142 ER in 324.1 IP) and 1 save in 211 appearances (3 starts) with the Orioles (2013-16) and D-backs (2017-18).
