D-backs select 30 players on the third and final day of MLB's 2019 First-Year Player Draft

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) selected 30 players in Rounds 11-40 of Major League Baseball’s 2019 First-Year Player Draft yesterday. Overall, the D-backs selected 26 college players and 19 high school players with 21 right-handed pitchers, 8 infielders, 7 left-handed pitchers, 6 outfielders and 3 catchers.

Below is a list of the notable picks on Day 3:

LHP Nick Snyder (Round 11, Pick 332) | B/T: L/L | Age: 21 (11/19/97) | 6-7, 220 | West Virginia University

• As a junior at West Virginia in 2019, went 8-1 with a 1.95 ERA (12 ER in 55.0 IP), 86 strikeouts and 25 walks in 13 games (10 starts)…was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.

• Prior to WVU, attended Mercer County (N.J.) Community College, who he helped lead the NJCAA Division II World Series championship game in 2016.

• A native of Marlton, N.J., and attended Cherokee High School.

LHP Avery Short (Round 12, Pick 362) | B/T: R/L | Age: 18 (3/14/01) | 6-1, 205 | Southport (Ind.) High School

• Was Team USA teammates with D-backs first-round draft pick OF Corbin Carroll and first-round compensation pick RHP Brennan Malone at the 2018 Pan-American Championships in Panama, going 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA (2 ER in 7.1 IP) and 5 strikeouts in 2 starts.

• Committed to attending the University of Louisville.

INF Cam Coursey (Round 13, Pick 392) | B/T: L/R | Age: 20 (8/25/98) | 5-8, 155 | Gwinnett College

• Hit .458 (104-for-227)/.535 OBP/.687 SLG with 19 doubles, 9 triples, 5 home runs, 63 RBI, 20 stolen bases and 66 runs scored in 61 games as a sophomore for Gwinnett in 2019.

• Was named a NAIA All-American in each of his 2 seasons at GGC, 1 of 2 players in program history to earn All-America honors twice.

• His father, Kiley, played professional baseball in the Brewers’ organization.

C Lyle Lin (Round 14, Pick 422) | B/T: R/R | Age: 21 (6/26/97) | 6-1, 200 | Arizona State University

• Hit .299 (66-for-221)/.328 OBP/.457 SLG with 8 doubles, 9 home runs, 50 RBI and 40 runs scored in 56 games as a junior with the Sun Devils in 2019.

• Was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference Team in 2019.

• Selected in the 16th round of the 2016 draft by the Mariners, making him the first Taiwanese-born player to be selected in the Major League Baseball Draft, according to The China Post.

INF Nick Grande (Round 17, Pick 512) | B/T: R/R | Age: 21 (2/9/98) | 5-11, 170 | SUNY Stony Brook

• Hit .342 (69-for-199)/.452 OBP/.523 SLG with 17 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs, 24 RBI, 19 stolen bases and 58 runs scored in 52 games as a junior for the Seawolves in 2019.

• Was the second player in program history to earn consecutive All-America accolades, receiving First Team honors in 2018 and Third Team in 2019…also named the 2019 America East Player of the Year and a finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award, given to the nation’s best shortstop.

RHP Jonathan Stroman (Round 22, Pick 662) | B/T: R/R | Age: 20 (11/1/98) | 6-2, 195 | Central Arizona College

• Helped lead Central Arizona College to a NJCAA World Series title in 2019, going 7-4 with a 5.67 ERA (50 ER in 79.1 IP), 116 strikeouts and 47 walks in 18 games (15 starts)…was the starting pitcher for the Vaqueros in the title game vs. Iowa Western.

• Previously selected by the Rays in the 39th round of the 2017 draft.

RHP Dylan Eskew (Round 24, Pick 722) | B/T: R/R | Age: 18 (2/7/01) | 6-3, 185 | Sickles (Fla.) High School

• Went 7-0 with a 0.47 ERA (4 ER in 59.0 IP), .128 opponent average, 87 strikeouts and 11 walks in 11 games (8 starts) as a senior for Sickles in 2019…additionally, he hit .386 (27-for-70)/.500 OBP/.771 SLG with 7 doubles, 1 triple, 6 home runs, 26 RBI and 20 runs scored in 24 games.

• Was a 2019 Perfect Game Preseason All-American.

• Participated in the 2018 Perfect Game National Showcase at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

• Committed to attend the University of Miami.

RHP Seth Tomczak (Round 26, Pick 782) | B/T: L/R | Age: 18 (7/6/00) | 6-4, 180 | Argonaut (Calif.) High School

• Went 3-0 with a 0.47 ERA (3 ER in 44.1 IP), 73 strikeouts and 19 walks in 12 starts as a senior for the Mustangs in 2019.

• Rated by Baseball America as the No. 8 draft prospect in 2019 out of Northern California (No. 159 overall).

• Committed to attend Arizona State University.

RHP Josh McMinn (Round 27, Pick 812) | B/T: R/R | Age: 23 (4/29/96) | 6-4, 205 | Oral Roberts University

• Went 7-5 with a 4.75 ERA (48 ER in 91.0 IP), 92 strikeouts and 30 walks in 15 starts as a senior for the Golden Eagles.

• Previously selected by the Twins in the 36th round of the 2017 draft.

• Also played basketball at Southwest Covenant (Okla.) High School and is the school’s all-time leading scorer.

• Collects vintage video games.

RHP Will Childers (Round 30, Pick 902) | B/T: L/R | Age: 18 (11/14/00) | 6-4, 200 | Lakeside (Ga.) High School

• Went 3-2 with a 1.55 ERA (9 ER in 40.2 IP), 58 strikeouts and 16 walks in 7 starts as a senior in 2019…additionally, he hit .303 (20-for-66)/.407 OBP/.484 SLG with 4 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 14 RBI and 12 walks in 22 games.

• Was a 2019 Perfect Game Southeast Region All-American.

RHP Luke Bell (Round 34, Pick 1,022) | B/T: R/R | Age: 18 (8/9/00) | 6-4, 195 | Seton Catholic (Ariz.) HS

• Selected with the fifth-annual “Cory Hahn 34th Pick”…the selection takes place each year and is named after Hahn, who currently works in the D-backs’ scouting department…Hahn wore No. 34 for Arizona State University, and was selected with the 34th round pick in the 2013 draft.

• Is the son of D-backs’ Vice President, Player Development, Mike Bell.

• Would be a fourth-generation professional baseball player…his great-grandfather, Gus, played in the Majors for 15 seasons…his grandfather, Buddy, played 18 seasons in the Majors, managed for 9 seasons and is the current Vice President and Senior Advisor to the General Manager for the Reds…his uncle, David, played in the Majors for 12 seasons and is currently the manager of the Reds…his father, Mike, also played in 19 games in the Majors in 2000.

• He went 10-2 with a 2.80 ERA (22 ER in 55.0 IP), 71 strikeouts and 29 walks in 13 starts as a senior for Seton in 2019.

RHP Ramsey David (Round 35, Pick 1052) | B/T: R/R | Age: 18 (2/8/01) | 6-3, 180 | Buford (Ga.) High School

• Rated by Perfect Game as the No. 153 overall player in the 2019 draft class and the No. 16 player from Georgia.

• Named a 2019 Perfect Game First-Team All-American from the southeast region.
