D-backs select Grégor Blanco from Triple-A Reno

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled OF Grégor Blanco from Triple-A Reno and optioned RHP Braden Shipley to Reno. To make room on the 40-man roster, Arizona transferred LHP Steve Hathaway to the 60-day disabled list.

The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled OF Grégor Blanco from Triple-A Reno and optioned RHP Braden Shipley to Reno. To make room on the 40-man roster, Arizona transferred LHP Steve Hathaway to the 60-day disabled list.
 
Blanco, 33, has appeared in 6 games between Single-A Adv. Visalia and Triple-A Reno this season, batting .391 (9-for-23) with a double, 3 RBI and 4 stolen bases. Over parts of 8 Major League seasons, he has hit .258 with a .344 on-base pct., 101 doubles, 33 triples, 21 home runs and 210 RBI in 902 games. Blanco's .993 fielding pct. since 2012 ranks fourth-best among NL outfielders in that time. He signed with the D-backs as a Minor League free agent on March 28.
 
Shipley, 25, made his only Major League appearance of the season yesterday in a start at Washington (3 ER in 4.0 IP).
 
Hathaway, 26, has been on the disabled list since March 31 with left shoulder inflammation.
 
The D-backs' 40-man roster remains at 40.
