Dodgers activate Kershaw from IL

The Los Angeles Dodgers today activated left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw from the 10-day injured list and optioned right-hander Jaime Schultz to Triple-A Oklahoma City.  

Kershaw, who was sidelined with left shoulder inflammation, will make his 2019 debut tonight against the Cincinnati Reds. The three-time Cy Young Award winner and 2014 MVP enters his 12th Major League season with the Dodgers’ organization and has posted a 153-49 record with a 2.39 ERA in 318 games (316 starts). Kershaw made two rehab starts, tossing a combined 10.1 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits with 12 strikeouts. In his last start for Double-A Tulsa on Tuesday, he tossed 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with six strikeouts.

Schultz, 27, is in his first season with the Dodgers’ organization and appeared in three games with the Dodgers. The former High Point University hurler tossed 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out three. In 25 Major League games, he is 2-2 with a 5.13 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 33.1 innings.
