CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians announced today the following roster moves relative to the 2019 Spring Training roster:

Chu, 24, split the 2018 season between Single-A Lynchburg, Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus, batting a combined .272 (96-for-353) with 22 doubles, 1 triple, 10 homers and 51 RBI in 99 games (.340/.425/.765). He also represented the club in the Arizona Fall League. The native of Taichung, Taiwan was a 2017 Midwest League Postseason All-Star and was signed as an amateur free agent in November 2012.
Johnson, 23, was acquired from the Washington Nationals on November 30 and will embark on his first Major League camp in just his fourth season as a professional. He was named Washington's 2017 Minor League Player of the Year and was rated as the fifth-best prospect in the Nationals system at the All-Star Break by FanGraphs. The Vallejo, CA native's 2018 campaign was limited to 96 regular season games due to a broken right hamate bone.
Kaminsky, 24, is coming off an Arizona Fall League All-Star selection (1.64 ERA, 10 games, 2ER/11.0 IP) after posting a 3.08 ERA with 4 saves at AA Akron during the regular season (26.1IP, 22H, 9ER, 22SO, .229 avg). The Englewood Cliffs, NJ native was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in July 2015 in exchange for OF Brandon Moss and was the 28th overall selection in the 2013 draft by St. Louis. He missed virtually all of 2017 after undergoing reconstructive left elbow surgery.
Martinez, 24, split the 2018 season between three stops in the club's player development system (Lynchburg, Akron, Columbus), leading all Indians Minor League pitchers in appearances (48) and saves (15). His combined ERA at Single-A Lynchburg and AA Akron was 2.50 (11ER/39.2IP) and his season ERA was 4.26 (24ER/50.2IP). The native of the Dominican Republic was signed by the organization as an amateur free agent in September 2013.
Mathias, 24, spent 2018 in Akron, batting .232 (92-for-397) with 25 doubles, 3 triples, 8 homers and 45 RBI in a career-high 117 games, appearing in 105 games at second base. He also stole 11 bases in 13 attempts and finished fourth in the Eastern League with 59 walks. The Fremont, CA native was Cleveland's third round pick (93rd overall) in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he was named Big West Conference Player of the Year as a sophomore.
Papi, 26, recorded an on-base pct. of .373 at Triple-A Columbus in 2018, hitting .247 (60-for-243) with 17 2B, 1 3B, 7 HR and 26 RBI in 83 games. The native of Scranton, PA appeared in 65 games in right field, 6 games at first base and 1 game in left field for the Clippers in 2018, batting .259 (52-for-201) with an .820 OPS vs. right-handed pitching. Mike was the 38th overall selection in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft (Competitive Balance Round A) out of the University of Virginia, earning All-America honors that season.  
CHAD WOLFE JOINS MAJOR LEAGUE ATHLETIC TRAINING STAFF
The Indians today announced the promotion of CHAD WOLFE to the Major League Athletic Training staff. Wolfe replaces the departed Michael Salazar, who joined the Athletic Training staff of the San Diego Padres in December.   Wolfe will work alongside Athletic Trainer James Quinlan and fellow Assistant Athletic Trainer Jeff Desjardins.  
Chad is entering his 16th overall season as an Athletic Trainer in the organization after initially spending a one season at rookie-level Mahoning Valley in 2004. After his stint with MV, he incrementally increased his time at each level of the system by one year (Lake County 2005-06; Kinston 2007-09; AA Akron 2010-13; AAA Columbus 2014-18. The Graham, NC native earned his graduate and undergraduate degrees from East Carolina University.
