Jorge Mateo Named to 2019 Futures Game

**OAKLAND, Calif. – **Oakland A’s No. 8 prospect and Las Vegas Aviators shortstop Jorge Mateo will represent the American League in the 2019 Futures Game. This is his second time participating in the Futures Game (2016).

Mateo, 24, is hitting .316 with 62 runs, 17 doubles, 13 triples, 12 home runs, 58 RBI, and an .896 OPS in 74 games for Triple-A Las Vegas this season. He leads the Pacific Coast League with 108 hits, 13 triples, and 187 total bases, is tied for second in extra-base hits (42) and runs, is tied for fifth in steals (16), and ranks ninth in RBI. His hits are the most in all of American affiliated baseball. He had a 15-game hitting streak from April 11-27 during which he hit .377 with a .419 on-base percentage.

Mateo was acquired from the New York Yankees along with Dustin Fowler and James Kaprielian for Sonny Gray on July 31, 2017 and he has yet to make his Major League debut.
