The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the 2017 Major League roster:
Purchased the contract of LHP TYLER OLSON (#49) from Triple-A Columbus.
Placed LHP BOONE LOGAN on the 10-day Disabled List with a left latissimus dorsi strain, retroactive to July 20.
Olson, 27, has spent the entire season to date with the AAA Columbus Clippers, posting a mark of 2-0 with 2 saves and a 3.32 ERA in 33 relief appearances (40.2IP, 28H, 15ER, 11BB, 52SO, .194 avg, 11.50 SO/9.0IP). For the season he has limited Triple-A left-handed batters to a .132 (9-68) average against and an overall mark of .182 (8-44) average against with runners on base and .080 (2-25) average with runners in scoring position. He has not allowed a run over his 6 July outings (5.0IP, 1H, 5SO). The Spokane, WA native was claimed off waivers by Cleveland last July and appeared in 12 Major League games with Seattle and New York-AL over the 2015-2016 campaigns.
Logan is beginning his seventh career stint on the Major League D.L. and owns a 4.71 ERA over 38 relief appearances (21.0IP, 20H, 11ER, 9BB, 28SO) with Cleveland in 2017. He left Wednesday's game in San Francisco due to injury. He underwent imaging and an examination yesterday, which confirmed a high grade latissimus strain. He is out indefinitely.
