April 29th, 2019

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s placed first baseman/outfielder Mark Canha on the 10-day injured list with a sprained right wrist and recalled left-handed pitcher Ryan Buchter from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Canha was batting .200 with two home runs and four RBI in 18 games. He also had 11 walks for a .377 on-base percentage. Canha started nine games at first base and two each in left field and center field. This is his second career stint on the IL as he missed nearly the entire 2016 season after undergoing left hip surgery.

Buchter was on the A’s Opening Day roster and compiled a 7.04 ERA and .375 opponents batting average in 13 appearances before he was optioned to Las Vegas a week ago today. He walked seven batters in 7.2 innings and has allowed 3-of-7 (42.9%) inherited runners to score. The 32-year-old left-hander made one appearance for Las Vegas on Friday against El Paso and retired the side in order in the eighth inning.
