The Washington Nationals returned from rehab assignment and reinstated right-handed pitcher Trevor Rosenthal from the 10-day Injured List and optioned right-handed pitcher Kyle McGowin to Double-A Harrisburg on Saturday. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Rosenthal, 29, returns to the active roster after missing 39 games while on the 10-day Injured List. He appeared in 10 games with Double-A Harrisburg while on rehab assignment, going 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA (6 ER/9.1 IP) and 11 strikeouts against seven walks.

Rosenthal appeared in seven games for the Nationals before being placed on the Injured List on April 26. He allowed 12 earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and nine walks.

McGowin, 27, has appeared in three games (one start) with the Nationals in 2019. He recorded his first Major League save on May 29 at Atlanta, tossing the final three innings in Washington’s 14-4 win over the Braves.
