Nick Madrigal, Steele Walker and Kade McClure named White Sox Minor League Players of the Month

CHICAGO -- Class AA Birmingham infielder Nick Madrigal and Class A outfielder Steele Walker have been named the Chicago White Sox Minor League co-Players of the Month for June, and Winston-Salem right-handed pitcher Kade McClure has been named Pitcher of the Month as voted by a panel of Chicago-area media members.

Madrigal, 22, hit .344 (24-90) with three doubles, two triples, 12 RBI, 17 runs scored, nine stolen bases and a .436 on-base percentage over 24 games in June between the Barons and Dash. He was promoted to Birmingham on June 6. Madrigal, who has struck out just twice over his last 32 games and just eight times total this season, has hit safely in his last nine games, including a three-hit effort on June 24 at Chattanooga.

The 5-foot-8, 175-pound Madrigal, who is currently rated by MLBPipeline.com as the No. 39 prospect in baseball, is hitting .301 (82-272) with 13 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 38 RBI, 37 runs scored, 26 stolen bases and a .373 on-base percentage over 70 games between Winston-Salem and Birmingham this season. He was selected by the White Sox in the first round (third overall) of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft.

Walker, 22, batted .330 (29-88) with six doubles, one triple, three home runs, 16 RBI, 13 runs scored, a .379 on-base percentage and .523 slugging percentage over 22 games in June with the Dash. He recorded a nine-game hitting streak from June 14-26 and hit for the cycle on June 14 at Carolina.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Walker, who is currently rated by MLBPipeline.com as the No. 10 prospect in the White Sox system, is hitting .302 (75-248) with 19 doubles, four triples, five home runs, 38 RBI, 30 runs scored, a .382 on-base percentage and .472 slugging percentage over 67 games this season between Winston-Salem and Class A Kannapolis. He was selected by Chicago in the second round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft.

McClure, 23, went 1-1 with a 2.12 ERA (7 ER/29.2 IP), 20 strikeouts and a .200 (21-105) opponents average over five starts in June for Winston-Salem. He tossed 20.0 consecutive scoreless IP over four starts from June 2-25.

The 6-foot-7, 225-pound McClure is 3-4 with a 2.75 ERA (26 ER/85.0 IP), one complete game, 70 strikeouts and a .238 (77-324) opponents average in 15 starts between Winston-Salem and Kannapolis this season. He was selected by the Sox in the sixth round of the 2017 First-Year Player Draft.
