OF Peter O'Brien sent to Dodgers on waiver claim; RHP Dillon Gee elects FA

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has sent outfielder Peter O'Brien to the Los Angeles Dodgers on a waiver claim. Additionally, right-handed pitcher Dillon Gee cleared waivers, rejected an outright assignment to the minor leagues, and elected free agency.

The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has sent outfielder Peter O'Brien to the Los Angeles Dodgers on a waiver claim. Additionally, right-handed pitcher Dillon Gee cleared waivers, rejected an outright assignment to the minor leagues, and elected free agency.
 
O'Brien was designated for assignment on Saturday. He was was received from Cincinnati in a May 27 waiver claim and combined to bat .164 (10-61) with 2 home runs and 8 RBI in 16 games with Round Rock and Frisco (AA).
 
Gee was designated for assignment on Friday. He had no record and a 4.15 ERA (6 ER/13.0 IP) in 4 games/one start with Texas this season after being recalled from Round Rock on May 27. He was 3-4 with a 3.88 ERA in 9 starts with the Express before his promotion to Texas.
 
The Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club's major league roster, along with four players on the 60-day disabled list.
