Brown was on the A’s Opening Day roster and went 0-for-3 in three games, including one start at designated hitter, before he was optioned to the alternate site on Aug. 6 when rosters were reduced from 30 to 28. He hit .324 with eight RBI in 17 games this spring. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter made his Triple-A and Major League debut last year, batting .297 with 37 home runs and 104 RBI in 122 games with Las Vegas and .293 with no home runs and 13 RBI in 26 games with Oakland.
Pinder was batting .200 with two home runs and six RBI in 17 games. He started 10 games, all at second base, and seven of those came in games started by a left-handed pitcher.
