A’s recall RHP Domingo Tapia; option RHP Adrián Martínez

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland Athletics recalled right-handed pitcher Domingo Tapia from Triple-A Las Vegas and optioned right-handed pitcher Adrián Martínez to Las Vegas, the club announced today.

Tapia joins the A’s for the fourth time this year and has a 10.80 ERA and .333 opponents batting average in six relief appearances over his first three stints with Oakland. He pitched three times during his most recent stay from July 10-21 and allowed four runs on six hits in 4.2 innings. The 31-year-old right-hander allowed two runs in 3.2 innings over four relief appearances with Las Vegas following his July 22 option and has three saves, a 2.73 ERA and .224 opponents batting average in 25 minor league appearances with the Aviators and Triple-A Omaha.

Martínez was recalled from Las Vegas yesterday and started and lost against San Francisco, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five in 4.1 innings. He is 2-3 with a 6.08 ERA in five starts overall with Oakland and is also 4-6 with a 5.54 ERA and .274 opponents batting average in 16 starts with Las Vegas.
