A’s recall RHP Paul Blackburn as 29th man for doubleheader

OAKLAND, Calif. – ­­­­The Oakland A’s recalled right-handed pitcher Paul Blackburn from their alternate site today as the 29th man for the doubleheader.

Blackburn joins the A’s for the second time this year but did not pitch during his first stint from Aug. 19 to 23. He is scheduled to start the second game of the doubleheader today, which will be his first appearance in a regular season game since Sept. 14, 2019 at Texas. The 26-year-old right-hander made his final spring training appearance on March 6 at Cleveland. Blackburn is 5-6 with a 5.18 ERA in 20 games, including 17 starts, in three seasons in the majors, all with the A’s.
